Chile QnA nr2

questions made by Sid McMath but asked by Thrawniter answers by Oveja

21Would Allende make successful Cybersyn?

21 - No comment on Cybersyn

22Why El Cautinazo happens earlier than irl?

22 - Despite sharing the name, it's essentially different things. Social tensions and the spread of guerrillas in the late 50s and early 60s, and the volatile political situation in Chile leads to a spark during the start of the Agrarian Reform process that causes violence to blow up in the South

23What is the reason behind self-coup of Prat?

23 - He is facing an impeachment process due to his policy of trying to undermine the authority of Congress and political parties. He has the support of the Armed Forces and decent popular support to go through with the self-coup

24Can Zepeda be called neolib?

24 - Nah, he won't privatize everything and such, he's just a liberal of the time

25Would Philippi like Perez Companc and JK?

25 - I'm not familiar with Companc. He would be friendly with JK since Philippi already oversaw Alessandri's approachment towards Brazil (and by extension Lott), not to mention they're politically close

26Does Viaux like Peron?

26 - Yes, though Viaux does not want to be seen as inferior to him

27What is the economic policy of Viaux?

27 - Corporativism + syndicates, organizing society into the State from top to bottom. Centralization, statization, nationalization. He would dismantle the Hacienda system in the countryside, instead both granting lands to peasant collectives (but making them clients of Agrarian corporations), or granting the land to corporations. Viaux is also into autarky, and will pursue industrialization, both expanding existing industrial centers (Like Santiago and Concepción) or creating new ones (Valparaíso, Antofagasta, Talca). He will also try to tie Chile's economy to Argentina, while he largely cuts off the United States

28Is Zepeda the most laisse faire path?

28 - Pretty much, yeah

29Which path is the most protectionist?

29 - Prat (of the democratic paths) 30Does fall of the coalition leads to the formation of entirely new one?

30 - Could lead to that, depends on whoever wins the Presidency and what their choices are

31What are requirements needed for civil war to happen, failure of presidents to enact their reforms?

31 - Country fucked up enough to lead to a coup. The coup is halfway successful and other groups or sections of the Armed Forces revolt in the wake of anarchy 31.5Is Chile skeleton going to be expanded in TT3?

31.5- A bit, not much

32Is Andean Pact going to get its GUI or you will manage it trough events?

32 - It might show up in the South American Cold War GUI, but you'll manage it via events, etc

33Can presidents choose how extensive their agrarian reform will be?

33 - In execution, sure. The Agrarian Reform will always start under Alessandri though the extent of it can vary depending on how the Bill gets through Congress. The next President can expand upon the Reform.

34Does Ecuador also join Andean Pact when it’s formed(small leak implies Ecuador is Peru’s puppet)?

34 - Yeah, in TT3

35What is the maximum level of integration of Andean Pact, sth like European Union?

35 - Not for TNO1, but it can act like a proto-EU (bear in mind that the Andean Pact can get massive)

36What is the maximum numbers of parties in Senate?

36 - Undefined

37Will all paths focus on developing the copper industry?

37 - Yes

38Which presidents will try to nationalise copper, like Frei and Allende did irl)?

38 - Philippi, Prat, Frei, Allende

39How many paths are planned for Red Chile?

39 - Undefined

40Would any Red Chile path like Amazonas?

40 - Red Chile will have an Amazonist path

41Would peronist Chile face huge resistance?

41 - Not huge necessarily, but yeah it'll by default face resistance since both Chileans would not like being second fiddle to Argentina and also because not everyone is on board simply

42Which path will have megaprojects?

42 - Allende secret, Philippi might link up with Brazilian megaprojects and do infrastructure things

43Is any leader interested in the space program?

43 - 🤔 not that I can think of

44How would Chile react to Argentina and Brazil becoming affiliated with/joining to CPS?

44 - Depends on who's in charge, though Allende and Prat might take advantage of it. Philippi and Frei would be worried but can make it work out, Zepeda would be horrified. Chilean foreign policy classically consists of trying to keep a balance of power in the region.

45Is Zepeda the most pro-oligarchy president?

45 - Mmh, you could say that, but all other Presidents also partake on the game one way or the other

46Can Peru, Brazil and Argentina send troops to CCW?

46 - Possibly

47Does preventing CCW requires many compromises?

47 - Yeah, and a fine balance

48How will Zepeda calm down rural areas if not through agrarian reform, by force?

48 - TBA

49Is Red Chile possible only through CCW?

49 - Yeah, a successful Allende can only get you so far. The most radical paths will be locked behind CCW

50Can Chile lose Patagonian and Antarctician lands through CCW?

50 - Most likely yeah
